The Village Panchayat of Ucassaim Paliem Punola is situated in the Bardez Taluka of North Goa District. The village is just a few kilometers away from Mapusa City. It is surrounded by the villages of Bastora, Succur-Vaddem, Nachinola and Moira. It has a population of 3318, with 1732 males and 1586 female population as per census 2011. The village is divided into 7 wards: Punola, Paliem, Paliem-Nogeira, Dumpem-Pajir, IgorzVaddo, St. Anthony, BelaFlor and PelloVaddo.The Panchayat consists of 7 wards and has 7 elected representatives. (Male 05, Female 02).

The village community includes Catholics, Hindus and Muslims. The village consists of all the religion faithful thereby having communal harmony and brotherhood. It consists of 3 Temples and 1 Church .

On the hill behind the village lies a cave popularly referred to as "VAGBUYER"(TIGERS DEN ) It is believed that this is a prehistoric cave in the laterite rock. Also imprints of BHIMA It is also believed that there used to be a tunnel connecting the cave to the neighboring Pomburpa Church. The cave contains a small spring active in the monsoon, which in turn connects to the rivulet (vanv in Konkani) gushing through the village in the monsoon and connecting to the main river. From the cross on the hill one obtains a beautiful view of the village.

Ucassaim was once is known as "MistirinchoGanv", because of the number of musicians (mistri) who flourished in this village. The village is surrounded by green hills and flowing rivulets. The temperature hovers from around 25 degrees in winter to 38 degrees in summer. The Village is blessed with natural beauty of fields and lakes, forest green cover. In rainy season it is the scenic beauty that attracts people with cool climate. It is million dollar worth watching site to have a look of different migratory birds flocking in the lake and fields during winter season. The village celebrates a variety of festivals locally. Music is being revived after many decades. A local festival called "GITVANA", held annually, gives a platform for the young and the old to perform on stage singing the traditional mandós or acting in one act skits. Since the start of this local festival it has brought a lot of talent to the village. The children of the village won first prize in the All Goa Tiatr Competition in the year 2011 and were runners-up in 2012. Were runners up for carnival at mandrem and won 2nd consultation prize at Panjim 2018 .Natka is another form of theatre in its traditional form held annually; this also provides a great platform for performance. Zatras, dandia competition .

Occupations in village ranges from agricultural farming to garden florists, pottery, carpenters, bakers, weavers, doctor , teachers, maisons, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, There are Three ANGANWADI and One PRIMARY SCHOOL. Nearest hospital/health centers are District Hospital Mapusa – 7.8kms & Directorate Of Health Service Aldona – 4.1kms from village Panchayat Ucassaim Paliem Punola.

The major source of income for the Panchayat is the house tax, fees, and Grant –in- Aid and other grants.
